The Highlands of Scotland is a hub for renewable energy, from wind farms to hydro, even solar!!
Did you know?
- Between 2009-2019 fossil fuel usage increased by 1.7%. Whereas, renewable energy usage grew by 5%. This might seem like a small percentage; however this is positive progress for a sustainable future.
- In 2020, Scotland produced enough electricity to cover 97% of its consumption. This is in comparison to 2011, when renewable Scottish energy only covered 37% of its needed electricity.
- In 2020, 260 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity were installed worldwide. This is enough to power 195,000,000 average homes. 91% of this energy capacity was through solar and wind power.
